The new BSC Workbench Graphical Interface has been completely re-written in Microsoft C#/.NET, including a modern MS Windows look-and-feel.
The new workbench uses OpenGL solid modelling to represent geometry objects, in contrast to the old workbench which could only display wireframes models. Solid modeling makes it much easier to visualize your problem, especially when there are many overlapping elements. In the aircraft wireframe model on the left, it is difficult to tell whether the right horizontal tail element is above or below the fuselage tailcone. In the solid model image on the right, it is very clear that the right horizontal tail element is above the fuselage. See the comparison chart below for additional details.
